Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar sworn on 31.07.2024 as the 12th Governor of Jharkhand. He was born on 01 November 1948, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. His higher education s from the University of Agra. He has achieved the degree of BSc and LLB.

He started his political life since 1974, when he served as District President of All India Youth Congress. These were also jailed during the emergency. For the first time in 1989, it has been a member of the Lok Sabha. In the government headed by Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Bajpayee in the 13th Lok Sabha, he has been ranked as Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) of the Government headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2014-2019. In addition, many other Ministries along with the Minister of State have discharging the obligations.

He has been the Chief Whip of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 14th Lok Sabha., as well as the Chairman of the important committees such as Lokkarta Committee, Public Undertaking Committee. He has travelled to countries like Israel, Japan, United States, UK, Argentina, China, South Africa and Switzerland.
